World Domination!

April 24 2008 - Perth, Australia

MAC/WLU/UW Synchro (aka Ontario Synchro) competed against the best masters competitors from all around the world and took home top honours earlier this afternoon.

Heading in to the free competition today, the team was ranked first after a strong technical swim on Tuesday. With high spirits and even higher hopes the team swam their best ever free routine performance to bring gold medals back to Hamilton and Waterloo.

Christa Schnarr and Melynda Saunders were also rewarded a bronze medal for their outstanding performances in the duet free and technical categories. Lindsay MacLean, Carly Fairles, Carla Dilellio and Charlotte Peer finished the colour sweep with their second place finish in the trio category.

The entire trip was an amazing experience for everyone on the team. The medalling swims have been uploaded for your viewing pleasure!

Thank you once again to everyone who helped us make our dreams come true!!

Send off success!!

April 6 2008 - Hamilton, ON

MAC/WLU/UW Synchro preps for Waterloo send off show Carla and Lindsay relax after a successful Waterloo send off show

Despite difficulties with the "invisible switch", the dedicated crowd in at Wilfrid Laurier University toughed it out last Thursday night in order to support their team in the first of our two send off shows. When a member of the pool's managerial staff finally made his way to the pool and flipped the "invisible switch" 40 minutes later, the crowd was pumped for the start of the show!!

Once everything was rolling the audience had their fill of great performances by the swimmers from MAC/WLU/UW Synchro and the Waterloo Regional Synchro Club. Happy birthday to Leanne McDonnell who celebrated her special day in synchro style with a fun routine from the Waterloo Regional tier six team! The mayor of Waterloo even dropped by to pick up her team button and give us her well wishes.

MAC/WLU/UW Synchro was at McMaster this morning for the second send off show. Competitive teams from Burlington Synchro gave us a hand in another spectacular show in front of a packed crowd.

Congratulations to Jocelyn Kilan who took home the beautiful quilt that was made and donated by Jan Peer, to our number one fan at the Moonshine Café, Paul Toms, who was the winner of the afghan made and donated by Joyce Donaven, and to Wayne Patterson who took home the brand new Epiphone acoustic guitar!!

Thank you to everyone for their best wishes, all of our volunteers for their help, and to the swimmers and coaches of Burlington and Waterloo Regional Synchro Clubs who put on great performances (and helped let us catch our breath!!).

Rocking For Down Under a blast at Absinthe!

Team at Absinthe The Racket

March 7 2008
Hamilton, Ontario -

MAC/WLU/UW Synchro rocked Absinthe last night in their second fundraiser show "Rocking for Down Under".

Joey Vinegar and The Condiments warmed up the crowd and filled the dance floor by covering some of our favourite hits. Up next was a rocking performance from The Racket who took a break from the tunes to wish the team well on their journey. When they picked back up they finished off the set in true synchro fashion -- fully decked out in swim caps! Lazy Slang kept the party going with some awesome reggae/rock tunes.

Congratulations to James who was the winner of our men's quartz watch, Steph who took home the silver heart bracelet and our very own Michelle Dalgleish who successfully completed her mission to keep the digital camera "in house" for the team to take to Australia!!

Thank you to Absinthe for providing us with a rocking venue, to all our bands who kept us dancing all night and to everyone who came out to check out the show!

Fundraising Bonanza Weekend

January 11 2008
Hamilton and Oavkille, Ontario -

On Jan. 11 we headed to Copps Coliseum for our first fundraiser with the Hamilton Bulldogs. Even before we got to sit down and have our kicks watching the scrappy third period, we had a great time selling programs and pucks for the Chuck-a-Puck event. When we were done there were only a few programs left and no pucks in sight.

After the game, the Bulldogs staff e mailed us to say that because of OUR team they added another 100 pucks for the Chuck-a-Puck fundraiser for the rest of the season!!! ...lets see if we can get them to add some more after Feb. 6!!!

Thank you to our enthusiastic “puck bunnies” for all their help with selling programs, tickets and pucks: Jan, Jen, Kelly, Karen and Stacey. We couldn’t have done it without you!!

We now have tickets to the Feb. 29 game against Iowa! To get your tickets for only $15 e mail mac_synchro@hotmail.com. The first fans to the stadium receive a Carey Price bobble head doll!!

On Jan. 13 we were at the Moonshine Café in Oakville to raffle off prizes and listen to some great music!!

Thank you to everyone who came out, everyone who donated raffle prizes, John and Jane for letting us use your rocking venue, and all our talented performers who kept us entertained all day. A special thanks goes out to Roadkill Bill who was chief in putting the afternoon together.
