Troll: Trolls are the ugliest and stupidest of all races. They are however, often the strongest and most determined fighters around. Trolls are very clumsy and stupid, and as a result it is very uncommon to see a Troll that can do anything but bash. Their unparalleled toughness allows Trolls to gain more hitpoints per level than other races, and regenerate twice as fast as others.
Reptile: Reptilians are sometimes considered humans if it weren't for their skin. Reptilians are as tall and tough as humans, but not as coordinated. They are not stupid, able to learn either arcana or piety spells, while also able to be acceptable fighters. Reptiles have the natural ability to breathe under water, while also having a unique scaley skin which thickens with age.
Centaur: A cross between a human and a horse. They have exceptionally high amounts of movement, and are strong, with the ability to carry much more than any of the other races. Their powerful legs inflict additional damage, but they cannot wear anything on their legs or feet.
Dwarf: Dwarves are shorter and stockier than Humans. Typically hearty and adventuresome, they can be the toughest of fighters. They are often skilled in crafts, and are able to learn the arcane arts well. Their practicality is a drawback towards their spirituality however. It is common to see dwarves fighter-mages, or thieves. Dwarves have the effects of infravision naturally.
Human: Humans are typically 6 feet tall and 180 lbs, rarely clumsy or stupid. They are the most diverse race in the world, able to learn any set of skills to any degree. However, it is uncommon to see a strong human fighter as you see a Troll fighter, or to see a strong Human mage as you see a Gnomish mage.
Orc: Orcs are similar to Trolls in that they are, tall, strong, ugly, and stupid, but it is wrong to think the two the same. Orcs are uncoordinated and stupid, but given enough determination, an Orc- Shaman, and Orc-Thief, or an Orc-Mage is not out of the question. While they will never be a match for Elves or Gnomes in those skills, they may learn enough to get by. Orcs regenerate 1.5 times as fast as other races and have the ability of infravision.
Elf: Elves are taller and lankier than Humans. Typically forest creatures, they are more coordinated and more in tune to nature than other races. Their reliance on these two attributes limits their abilities to be excellent mages or tough fighters. It is common to see successful elven fighter-clerics, or fighter-thieves. They have the natural ability to see invisible.
Halflings: Halflings are shorter and weaker than Humans. They are typically cute and very pleasant company, and not very adventurous or tough. They are studious though, and often well versed in the arcane arts or the healing magics. Halflings are also very coordinated, and are able to dodge attacks in combat often.
Gnomes: Gnomes are as short as halflings, and even weaker. They are typically brilliant minds, adept at the arcane arts. However, they are not very tough and are not as coordinated as other races. Still it is not uncommon to see gnomish thieves. Their increased intellect allows them to learn more about the world as they gain experience.
Goblin: Goblins are short, crafty, and cowardly. They often hide in the shadows, afraid of the bigger races, but the more determined goblins come above the earth. Goblins, because of their coordination, make excellent thieves, but little else. Goblins, able to quickly run from a fight, lose less experience than other races when they flee. Due to their natural habitat of cave-dwelling, they have become adept at seeing in the dark.
