In Canada the Bulldogge was created by selective breeding of Olde English Bulldogges from established lines. English Mastiff type dogs; the English Bulldog and Bull Mastiff were combined to breed pug out of the line. The result is a larger healthy alternative breed of Bulldog.
Our breeding program is designed to reproduce the Bulldog as it existed prior to the 18th century. The Bulldogge is medium size; weighing 55 to 85 lbs, compact in appearance, with a short coat, heavy thick-set body, short-faced head, broad muzzle, wide shoulders and sturdy limbs. Male Bulldogge will attain a height of 18 to 20 inches at the shoulders, while the female height will be slightly smaller at 16 to 19 inches. The general appearance and attitude should suggest great stability, vigour and energy. The demeanour of these affectionate family protectors should be regal and dignified.
