40+ years ago, on Oct. 3 1971, we raced our 64 Chev Impala 327 in the last bracket race at the Windsor Dragway.
Won the overall Eliminator, besting George Turnbull's V8 VW Bug.

Guess who the7 year old kid is, and what he's thinking... "When I grow up I'm gonna race like Grumpy Jenkins, too." [Windsor Dragway 1971]
St. Thomas Dragway...1971. The boys are into it already!!
Serious racing started after the demise of Windsor Dragway, when we built our first "race only" car for the 1972 season.
We raced at Milan and attended the 1972 Indy Nationals in Super Stock X. [Barry Maskery built 283ci, 2 barrel carb and 3 speed stick]

That was when an ordinary working person could afford to compete in Super Stock, without being a millionaire!!! Can't do that now.
THE TORCH HAS BEEN PASSED TO JAY AND HIS 1971 CAMARO. THE CAR HAS CARRIED JAY TO MORE THAN 30 YEARS OF SUCCESSFUL COMPETITION IN BRACKET RACING AT MILAN DRAGWAY, DETROIT DRAGWAY, CAYUGA, GRAND BEND MOTORPLEX , AND ST. THOMAS DRAGWAY.
THE CAMARO HAS BEEN JAY'S "TOY" SINCE 1980.
THE RACING STARTED AT MILAN DRAGWAY.
