TDF-HA110  "Foxbro"

Special thanks to Rick Hallman for this rendition of the Isscv from "Space, Above and Beyond".   The lower four thumnails are of my older version of the Isscv, or HA110 Foxbro.

OVERVIEW:

The HA110 Foxbro is a versatile troop transport craft that utilized a modular pod design.  One of the first space craft since the beginning of the Exodus War to be made by the ALC to use this design concept, The HA110 has proven time and time again to be one of the most reliable shuttle craft in use today by the TDF.  A simple, no-frills approach to warfare, the HA110 delivers an economical answer to ground-to-space troop movement while providing a suitable VTOL platform from which to provide excellent ground support for infantry.

CAPABILITIES:

The HA110 Foxbro is armed with two medium pulse laser turrets (one back mounted, one mounted under the nose of the craft), 2 light pulse laser turrets (when equipped as a gunboat) and two light pulse lasers are forward fixed on the wings of the craft.  The HA110 Foxbro is equipped with a Gauntlet(tm) F571 shield system - standard for all new fighters and troop transports manufactured by the ALC for the TDF.  this shield, in addition to the 30 tons of ablative armor proves very effective against light to moderate laser fire.  Since the Foxbro is a troop carrier, it is not the fastest of light craft and requires heavier armor to protect it from faster light fighters.

The HA110 Foxbro, when equipped as a gunboat or when equipped for special operations, is equipped with a sub-space bubble warp core that allows the craft to perform interstellar travel, within a limited number of light years.  Average limit is 50 light years before refeuling.  When the HA110 is equipped as a troop transport or medical evac unit, the space required for the warp generation system is traded for specialized equipment or for troop capacity.

The configuration options available for this craft are as follows:

  • Armored Personnel Carrier.  Max crew = 10.  Most common.

  • Emergency Medical Vehicle.  Max crew = 4 crew + 4  wounded.

  • Fleet Patrol Craft.  Max crew = 5.  Used for extended missions.

  • Wing Command Craft.  Max crew = 5.  Commands fighting groups.

  • Cargo Transport.  Max crew = 2.  Basic convoy.   Minimum shielding.

  • Gun Ship.  Max crew = 5.  Heavy armament in addition to above.

  • Troop Transport.  Max crew = 20.  Minimum shielding.

DEVELOPMENT:

Unlike the United Archadian Republic who has helped the TDF with rebuilding it's fleet via ships such as the TDF-CS-200 "Helios", the Astro Lift Company is a private conglomerate vendor that has committed to providing new fleet solutions to the TDF in addition to it's regular product line and colonization mandate.

ITEMS OF NOTE:

The HA110 Foxbro is a very versatile craft which may be reconfigured for the mission required.  Aside from some minor attachments to the main fuselage, the vast majority of the changes in equipment, systems, weapons and even shielding are due to the exchangeable crew/cargo pod.  Hence an HA110 can change configuration in deep space by swapping modules with another HA110.  Although the HA110 is not the newest of craft produced by the ALC, it's popularity amongst commanders, pilots and soldiers in the TDF had enabled this craft to undergo extensive upgrades since the end of the Exodus War.  Still in regular use today, the HA110 has proven itself to be a valued member and backbone unit in the TDF space fleet.  When accompanied by Hammer or Valkyrie heavy fighters, a convoy of HA110s can re-supply capital ships or bases, move troops in and out of "hot" zones, and perform emergency medical evacuation.  In addition, the HA110 is a powerful opponent when armed with the latest and deadliest of missiles and bombs.

UPCOMING ITEMS:

The ALC plans to continue production of the HA110 as needed until the development of the next generation of armored personnel carrer.
