THOMAS BAXTER
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
At the age of 17 began performing on cruise ships around
the World.
Performed with Canadian Celebrities on the
Great Canadian Show Train (18 trips coast-to-coast)
Performed four times for the United Nations forces in
Germany, Cyprus, Israel and Egypt.
At age 27 received the Chalmers award for Artistic Merit
(The only magician ever so honored).
Accepted as a student and studied in the U.S.A. with the
renowned Shakespeare & Co. , under Kristin Linklater.
(Classmates Were Sigourney Weaver, R.H. Thompson and Dianna Quick.)
Toured theatres, cabarets and auditoriums in Europe, the
Middle East and Canada's Arctic, as well as our Maritime
Provinces, and Western Canada.
Produced, wrote and directed SHOW CANADA '86, which
toured five countries with a cast and crew of 29.
Acted as Magic Consultant, Designer and Trainer for the
Stratford Festival In their 1992 stage adaptation of
Robertson Davies' World of Wonders. Also for "The Illusion"
and "Alice Through the Looking Glass, in 1993 and 1994.
Performed countless trade shows for many of the World's
Fortune 500 Corporations, in Canada, the United States and Europe.
In 1995 created, wrote, performed and acted as magic consultant
for The MAGIC OF CANADA, a one hour television special for the CBC.
Acted as Magic Consultant and created all-new illusions for the
National Ballet of Canada's new production of the Nutcracker, in
December of 1995.
In 1998 acted as Magic Consultant, Writer and performer for Canada's
Discovery Channel and their 50 part series on Magic, entitled GRAND ILLUSIONS.
In 2000 acted as Magic Consultant to the Greek Government in Cyprus,creating
illusions based upon Greek Mythology for "PYGMALION".
In 2002 acted as Magic Consultant for feature film "DAREDEVIL", starring Ben
Affleck and Colin Farrel.
In 2003 THOMAS BAXTER embarked upon his most ambitious project to date: An entire 90 minute theatrical program in which he
leaves behind the Magician's painted boxes and sleight of Hand to explore the
Psychological Principles that are the REAL stuff of Magic. The
Result: T. BAXTER -- ThoughtControl !
... A 90 minute theatrical presentation with no props, no smoke and
mirrors, just the thoughts and imaginations of the audience members themselves.
