Daimatsu English Centre

Nestled in the city of Higashiomi (formerly Yokaichi, Shiga), DEC has been actively teaching English conversation to the residents of Yokaichi/Higashiomi and it's surrounding areas since 1993.

DEC (Daimatsu English Centre) was started in 1993 to provide the residents of Higashiomi (and western Shiga) an alternative to the "chain schools" which are so prevalent. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, enjoyment, and a personal touch. The current enrollment at DEC includes students as young as 3, up to those in their 70's. We do our best to cater to the needs of all students.
DECC (DEC Canada) was established to provide foreign (mainly Japanese) students with an opportunity to study abroad. With a combined 30 years of experience teaching in Japan, we feel we know and understand the students who may wish to join us in Canada. As importantly, we know and understand the families who have chosen to send their loved ones away to learn English, and their absolute need for quality, safety… and piece of mind.
DEScene (Daimatsu English Scene) is currently being developed to incorporate the internet into everyday lessons. The students of DEC, plus those of other schools, have a place to converse, and to interact with teachers and fellow students. This is also a place for students to find materials to work on, which is also corrected by one of the teachers (not something found at many other sites).
Gan Bokumetsu Cancer Walk
DEC is a proud supporter of the Gan Bokumetsu Cancer Walk. Each year, this Walk is held in Higashiomi, with students and staff out in full force. What began as an homage to Terry Fox, and the Terry Fox Run, has evolved into a locally started, grass-roots effort to eradicate cancer. Click here to learn more about the Terry Fox Foundation, and you can also see pictures of previous Runs held in Yokaichi.
