Senior's Housing

We Have A Vision

Using St. Andrew's United Church Resources
to Provide Affordable Senior's Housing

The above is the most current version of the planned building for the Senior's Affordable Housing project.

The church's Housing Committee held a public meeting Monday June 17 from 19:00 to 21:00, which was attended by approximately 50 people from the church congregation and the community.

The meeting was very informative and stated that the project is still very much in the planning stages, but will soon start the financial application and approval processes.

Following the meeting everybody had an opportunity to fill out a response questionnaire, from which a short conclusion could be drawn, as follows:

Out of 25 returned responses:

22 were very positive and indicated that the project should go forward.

3 were very much in favor of the senior's housing subject, but felt that the St. Andrew's property and location was not right for this project.

Preliminary stats

4 story building.

Appearance:

  • 2 story towards Mountainview Road

  • 3 story towards Sinclair Ave.

Approximate 43 units of different mix and sizes between one and two bedroom apartments

The new building will surround the current church buildings, excluding the Sanctuary, and thereby enhance the look of the property.

The current estimate of the project is in excess of 5,000,000.00 Dollars. The affordability for Seniors to rent the units is still projected to be possible based upon current Federal, Provincial, and Municipal available housing programs.
