Sunday Worship Service
- 10:00 a.m.Our worship services are held on Sunday Mornings at 10:00 AM. Worship is central to our life together as a community of faith. We gather in a beautiful and modern sanctuary which seats 250 with wonderful floor to ceiling stained glass windows all around and a sky light. Worship at St. Andrew’s is a time to reflect and hear the Good News of Jesus Christ in an uplifting and relevant style. Coffee and snacks are available after each service.
New to St. Andrew’s is our computer generated video projection system that enhances our worship service to allow for the projection of images and music of all types to be seen on a very large screen located at the front of the church.
Our worship services offer music with a balance of organ and piano accompaniment, contemporary and traditional songs. We have a choir each Sunday, with frequent soloists, under the leadership of our music director, Susan Whaley. During worship, our children and youth are present for the first 10 minutes of the service until the children’s message. At this time the children and youth go downstairs for our Sunday School and Nursery programs.
Each Sunday, we offer well equipped and staffed baby care in our Baby Fold Room. Additionally, we have a parent and infant comfort room conveniently located beside the entrance door of the sanctuary, complete with viewing window and audio feed for parents of young children to continue to be involved with the worship service while tending to their children.
Our Sunday School runs from ages 3-11; Junior and Senior Youth Classes for 12 years of age and older;
The Sacrament of Communion is celebrated six times a year, and the Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated as requested.
The Church, including the sanctuary, is wheelchair accessible.
The United Church of Canada follows a common lectionary with other churches.
The lectionary is built on the seasons of the Christian Year. The Christian Year is a reenactment of the life of Jesus from birth through ministry, death and resurrection, to the birth of the church and its witness in the world today.
In Advent we prepare for Jesus’ birth, and our own renewal. At Christmas we celebrate the joy of Jesus’ birth of God with us. Through the Season after Epiphany we read of Jesus’ Baptism, his call of the disciples, and his ministry of teaching and healing. Lent is a season of penitence and preparation for Easter. It is a time of decision and commitment.
