Health Care and Social Services

Georgetown has a bright, modern community hospital built on 17 acres of land. Offering a wide range of primary care services, its major clinical areas include obstetrics, general medicine, surgery and complex continuing care. The emergency department, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides service to more than 30,000 patients annually. It is part of the Halton Health Services Corporation which includes the Oakville Hospital and Milton District Hospital campuses.

There is a new hospital in Brampton, about 20 km to the east of Georgetown, and approval has been given for growth and expansion of the Georgetown hospital campus.

Numerous social and community services are available through a wide range of programs to enhance the independence and quality of life of Halton residents including :

Links2Care is a multi-service organization supporting people of all ages in the development of a caring and responsive community.

Seniors Centres and supporting organizations provide access to facility and programs, trips and special events, fun and friendship. Membership is available to anyone 55 years of age or older.

Seniors housing is available and we at St. Andrew's are taking an active part in a project to build an affordable seniors' housing complex on the existing Church property.

  • 53-unit structure

  • 50-unit 4-storey apartment + 3 town-house units

  • Target is seniors aged 60+ and women and children in a "crisis" situation (transitional housing provided by the 3 T.H. units)

  • 44 program-funded units (rents est'd as a percentage of the Average Market Rent) and 9 market units

Police Service including a Community Policing Program is active in the community and emergency services are serviced by a 9-1-1 call centre.
