The disease caused by Legionella bacteria is currently recognized as Legionnaires disease. It is serious with possible fatalities, particularly to immune compromised persons, the elderly, smokers, etc. caused by the inhalation of water aerosols containing Legionella pneumophila.

Contaminated water aerosols in commercial buildings (Offices, Hotels, Colleges etc) and Health Care facilities can typically be generated from poorly maintained cooling towers, water storage vessels, spas, hot tubs, faucet aerators, shower heads etc.
