Conference Update
On September 13.2009 St. Mary's SSVP welcomed 10 auxiliary and 3 full members in a Installation Ceremony at the11 am Mass.A Thank You Luncheon to the Parish for their many years of support, followed the Mass. We hosted 25 Parish members and 25 Vincentians. There were several posters and leafles with information regarding SSVP work in the Lindsay community. The information provided at the ceremony was on display again on October 3, in the school's gym at the "Coffee Meet and Greet" held 1st Sunday of each month. Pictures were posted on the bulletin board for the following 2 weeks.
SSVP did a trial period of buying and delivering of the Good Food Box. A team did home visits first ,in an area with a high population of poor and working poor. Our friends in need met at the front enterance of the housing complex with their bags to carry away the food. There were 6 boxes paid by SSVP or Ontaio works. Although the content of the box varies with the food availble locally each month, It was a good investment of our funds in helping families with fresh fruit and produce.
On October 3 & 4 before and after the Masses clothing was collected from St. Mary,s Parish. This Bundles Drive has not been done for many years. The St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store in Peterborough feels any collection for clothing is to be considered a success.
