The St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Alphonsus is a group of lay people who perform acts of charity in the service of the poor and needy. With the help and support of the Priests, the Knights of Columbus, the CWL and the parishioners, we are committed to aid and assist the needy souls within the boundaries of the parish.
Our parishioners bring non-perishable food items to mass every weekend and generously contribute to the St. Vincent de Paul collection every month. We answer the calls of the needy four days a week, regardless of race, creed or colour and two volunteer Vincentians visit them on the same day, providing emergency food and clothing vouchers.
St. Alphonsus has a food bank on the second Thursday of every month from 9:00 to 11:30 AM. Those who live within our parish boundaries and require food assistance are invited to come to the food bank.
The service which our St. Vincent de Paul conference provides is for emergency situations only. We do not give vouchers on a regular on-going basis. If you, or anyone you know is in dire straights with a genuine need for food or clothing and live within the boundaries of our parish, please call and we will gladly come to your aid.
