The Origin of the G.H.L.A Crest

The crest was designed for a Leather Denim Club. The shape of the Crest represents the Back Pocket on a pair of 501 jeans. The Blue within the horseshoe represents Lake Ontario. The Blue on the out-side of the horseshoe represents the colour of a pair of jeans. The Nails in the horseshoe represent the Cities of the Golden Horseshoe Region. The Leather cap represents Leathermen. The Red Banner is in memory of those passed away from Aids, and the Gold Rope border ties us all together in "BROTHERHOOD".

The Golden Horseshoe Leather Association was founded on the principals of Brotherhood, Friendship and Public Service as was originated October 1990, the first Constitution was put together in May 22, 1991.

At this time 12 men sat down to create the original constitution thereby forming The Golden Horseshoe Leather Association. The names of the men are as follows: Ron Arrowsmith (Deceased), Ron A., Wally Dimond, Gregg Grady (Deceased January 24, 2005), Fred Greaves, Gord Immel, Barry Joe, Tim Lee, Jeff McKinnon, Tom Pierce, Willy Price (Deceased), and Paul Rivard (Deceased).

This is the beginning of what The Golden Horseshoe Leather Association is Today. We follow a constitution which was reformatted in 1995, with a purpose of the club, to bring together men interested in the leather/denim lifestyle. To create a closer fellowship within our community, and to foster its growth and development. To create an identification for members, and to be recognized by members of similar clubs and the community as a whole.

Memberships are available in 3 categories.

1. Full Membership: Which has all the priviledges and the right to vote, residing in the Golden Horseshoe.
2. Associate Membership: Which has all the priviledges excluding the right to vote, residing out of the Golden Horseshoe.
3. Honourary Membership: Bestowed on outstanding contribution to the Leather/Denim Community.

Pledge is the term defining a person wishing to become a full member which consists of a 6-month probationary period, we want to get to now you.
