Barley Brae |
|
The Niagara Region’s authentic complete Celtic music band and more! |
|
Why Barley Brae is a complete Celtic music band. In traditional Celtic music, a strong emphasis was placed on instrumental music. It is a safe guess to say that in the Celtic instrumental repertoire there are at least 10, 000 tunes. These tunes would be from Ireland, Scotland, Bretany and England along with the New world colonies such as Nova Scotia and Appalachia. Without instrumentals, Celtic music would never be what it is today. Bands like the Chieftains and the Bothy Band proved the power of instrumental music.Barley Brae makes great use of instrumental music combining it with very strong vocals to create a complete Celtic music sound that ranges from tunes that are hundreds of years old to modern songs set in Barley Brae’s distinctive style.
Not everyone is a Celtic music aficionado and with that in mind, we endeavor to include all of the favourite tunes that most people associate with “pub music” so if someone wants to hear anything from the Unicorn Song to Cockles and Mussels we are more than happy to play any request. Our goal is to please the audience. Whether it is a common sing-a-long tune or an ancient Celtic instrumental you will get it all with Barley Brae. |

St. Patrick’s Day for Barley Brae, 2005 was a great night. We all had a great new experience playing at the new Casino in Niagara Falls. We got a lot of wonderful compliments and saw a lot of friends especially the infamous “Brock Ladies”. Below is the part of the add released by the Casino. You would almost think we were famous. |
