Catholic Woman's League of Canada The Catholic Women’s League in Holy Rosary Parish received its charter in January, 1954! So, this year, we are celebrating 50 years of service in our parish!. Our meetings are on the third Monday of the month, from September to June. Mass is celebrated for living and deceased members of the CWL at 7:00pm. The members of the CWL serve as Readers, Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers and musicians. Our meetings follow, usually at Holy Rosary School or at Rosary Hall. The meetings consist of prayer, information, mission draw, sometimes a guest speaker or a game, and always fellowship and a lunch! We average about 20 members at the meeting, but know we can call on others when we need help with various activities. The women in this parish are so generous with their time and talents! The CWL needs all Catholic women to be members – those who are able to be very active, AND those who are not able to be very active. We all share in the benefits of the monthly Mass which is offered for living and deceased members of the CWL. Every name counts when CWL National approaches government officials, seeking changes in legislation, because they are able to say that they represent all members of the CWL across Canada. We feel that it is very important to be included that group! We serve as your Co-Presidents, and it has been a real privilege to serve you. Our members enjoy meeting with fellow members of the League at the annual CWL Retreat, CWL Regional meetings, and the annual CWL Convention in May in Kingston. We encourage as many of you as possible to consider joining us at some of the special CWL Diocesan days. We usually have at least one representative at the Provincial Convention, and occasionally at National. Contact: Marg Credico THE CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE 2007-2008 EXECUTIVE

Contact: Fr. John St. Vincent de Paul Belleville has two St. Vincent de Paul groups that work together but have very different ways of helping the poor. Most people are aware of the St. Vincent de Paul Warehouse at 205 Coleman Street. The store accepts second hand clothing, furniture, books and household items. These goods are then sold to anyone who wishes to buy them. The second group is made up of members from the three Belleville Catholic Churches. This group is divided into teams and each week a team picks up phone calls from people in need of furniture, food or clothing. Two people visit the person in their home to see the need and take some history. The members then try to get the requests from the Warehouse or other sources. They can refer the person to the Food Bank, Community Trust or Credit Counselling. The group meets every 5 weeks to pray and review the cases that were helped. Money comes from the parishes. St. Joseph's Parish covers the phone and answering service. Our mandate is to organize study groups and prayer groups to provide support and guidance to lay people striving to live a Christian life. Contacts: Michael Kelleher, Ann Bourque, Margaret Byrne
