Registration for First Communion

Dear Parents:

As part of the Religion Education program of Catholic Schools and the spiritual life of the parish family, the students of Grade 2 will be receiving religious instruction in preparation for Reconciliation (Confession) and First Communion this year. However, it will be necessary for you to register your child for Reconciliation and First Communion. Registration and the reception of the Sacraments should take place in the Parish to which you belong and where you and your child regularly attend Mass.

For those belonging to Holy Rosary Parish, registration forms may be obtained from the Parish Office during business hours (8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday) or from the Information Desk in the Atrium before or after the Sunday Masses. These should be completed and returned to the Parish Office before the Parent Meeting on November 10, 2011.

For those belonging to St. Michael the Archangel Parish, St. Joseph Parish, or other Catholic Parishes, please contact your pastor or parish office for information on registration.

A meeting for all parents is scheduled for those making their First Communion at Holy Rosary Parish on Thursday, November 10, 2011. Two times are offered: 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm in the meeting room downstairs. A parent, relative / friend / guardian /sponsor must attend one of these. In order to know the number of books to be ordered and materials to be prepared, you must register prior to November 10, 2011.

An Enrollment Ceremony (compulsory) will be scheduled at a later date.

I remind you of the availability of the junior liturgy for the children, at both the 9:30 am and 11:30 am Sunday Masses. The children are encouraged to participate in this celebration.

It will also be necessary to provide the Church with a certificate of baptism, unless your son/daughter was baptized at Holy Rosary Parish or in the Church where you are now practising and registering your son or daughter.

If there are any problems or difficulties, please contact me at the Parish at 613-968-6829.

Yours truly,

(Rev.) John G. Hibbard

Registration for Confirmation

Dear Parents:

As part of the Religion Education program of Catholic Schools and the spiritual life of the parish family, the students of Grade 7 will be receiving religious instruction in preparation for Confirmation this year. These should be completed and returned to the Parish Office before the Parent Meeting on November 24, 2011.

For those belonging to St. Michael the Archangel Parish, St. Joseph Parish, or other Catholic Parishes, please contact your pastor or parish office for information on registration.

A Parent Meeting is scheduled for those to be confirmed at Holy Rosary Parish on Thursday, November 24, 2011. Two times are offered: 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm in the meeting room downstairs. A parent, relative, friend / guardian /sponsor must attend one of these. In order to know the number of books to be ordered and materials to be prepared, you must register prior to November 24.

An Enrollment Ceremony (compulsory) will be scheduled at a later date.

I remind you that each candidate will need a sponsor for Confirmation. It is desirable that the sponsor (god-parent) at baptism be chosen. A sponsor must be (1) a Catholic; (2) at least 16 years of age; (3) confirmed and received the blessed Eucharist; (4) one who lives a life of faith; (4) and is free to exercise and undertake this role. The mother or father of the candidate cannot be a sponsor. A proxy can stand in for the sponsor if he/she cannot attend the Confirmation celebration.

If there are any problems or difficulties, please contact me at the Parish at 613-968-6829.
