Why I do Locum work During my 18 years of solo practice I recall it was most frustrating having to close my practice on short notice for an emergency appendectomy. To minimize treatment disruption and rescheduling frustrations I returned to work as soon as I was released from the hospital and put on a brave face while suffering with post-op pain playing 3 weeks of catch-up. In retrospect I delayed my recovery by going back to work too early. It would have been very prudent to have a locum dentist run my practice until I was ready to return. As they say, hindsight is 20/20 which brings me to my current occupation. I offer my services to colleagues who find themselves in circumstances where they need a reliable experienced dentist to look after their practice for a short term.
