It's Mark!

Having said that, I saw a new hygienist this morning and she's awesome. She also has 2 dogs so, when I didn't have a bunch of stuff in my mouth, we could talk about dogs. yay!

Mark was at the dentist on Monday, I was there today, the dogs were at the vet on Monday, hopefully we're done with appointments for a little while.

This morning I thought Gracie had disappeared from the yard. Sam was in the house with me and I went to find Gracie before I started getting ready for work (I just like to know where they both are). She wasn't in the house, and I couldn't see her in the yard (our yard is not huge) or on the deck. I started to panic a little bit and called her and called her.

Eventually, I heard her whimper, she was behind a piece of lattice that Mark had put next to the shed. I wasn't sure how she got in behind the shed but at least I knew where she was. I called out and said, "I'll be back to rescue you, just need my shoes" and went back into the house. I had no more than walked into the bedroom than Gracie was at my feet. She wasn't trapped at all, just playing a game I guess. To me, puppy games are more fun when there is less panic and more laughing. I suppose as long as she had fun, that's the main thing, right?

dental mental

I went to the dentist this morning for a routine cleaning. About an hour after I got back to work, I got a dental related headache which has not gone away. It does suck but at least my teeth are now very clean and all fluorided.

Fluorided is not a word but I'm using it anyway. Today's fluoride treatment seemed pretty fancy to me. I got to choose a flavour (I chose mint) and they squirted some foaming stuff into a blue plastic tooth guard thing that I had to bite down on. The foaming stuff was oozing out all over my face and the hygienist was cleaning it up as it spilled over. It was all very classy. It was also very different from "swish and spit" which is what we did when I was in elementary school. Do they still make kids do this?

They would make us gargle with some putrid "berry" flavoured pink liquid which was in a little paper cup. We'd have to put it in our mouth and swish it around while we walked the hallways at school. At the end of the route, we could spit it out back into the cup and throw it out. Also not very classy. I guess it's good though, I still have all of my teeth. Just not sure why fluoride must be administered with some kind of weird ritual.

Sam tidbit: Sam loves applause. If he does something good, he gets a "good boy" but if he does something really good - like let me put his harness on, or get into the van on his own, we applaud and say good boy and cheer. He totally digs it. Sam is a natural performer and is a complete applause whore.

waiting

I had a dentist appointment today.

The appointment was for 11:30 a.m. I was having a filling done.

At 12:12 p.m. they took me into the doctor's room.

At 12:26 p.m. he finally saw me.

The filling went well, he's a good dentist and all. I just wasn't impressed to be kept waiting for so long.

The freezing is almost out of my mouth right now and my mouth hurts.

I know I'm whining, I'm sorry. I just think that if someone is going to make your mouth hurt, they shouldn't keep you waiting for almost an hour to do so.

yuck.

In 2.5 weeks I will be on vacation again. Next time, I'm off for 2 weeks and the only thing I have booked so far is a dentist appointment.

I went to see my dentist last week, and to have a cleaning. I haven't had a cavity or any trouble with my teeth in over 20 years. Last week, I had a new dentist. The old one was still there but he's easing into retirement so there is this new guy.

He's nice enough. I like him okay. Then he tells me I have a cavity and need to get it filed. Not liking him so much anymore. I accept the news though, make the appointment for the filling and leave.

I talked to my mum on the weekend. She had her first appointment with Dr New Dentist (I want to call him Crentist) and guess what, he found a cavity in her mouth too.

Coincidence? I sure hope so. I really don't want to go through this if I don't have to. If I have to I will but really, this better not be unnecessary.
