Dodge's Dakota pickup has been fully redesigned for the 2005 model year. While it is still smaller than full-size pickups like its sibling, the Dodge Ram, it's bigger than most of its competition, leading Dodge to advertise it as a 'midsize' pickup as opposed to a compact pickup. This banner was designed to emphasize Dakota's primary advantage over its competitors, size. It also promotes other features truck buyers consider important, such as bed size and available V8 engines, which the competition doesn't offer.
