A House for Muliple Dimensions

_

String theory tells us that the universe consists of 11 dimensions of which we experience 3. These three are what make up our ‘reality’. We propose to extend this idea to the use of function for the house. At any given time on one floor there exist three functions; with a series of other functions that exist outside of this ‘reality’. Experience is dictated by usage; thereby creating an number of ‘reality’ combinations. Set high above the streets of harajuko in Tokyo the house consists of three ‘movable’ components. A combination of public living, dining, kitchen, private living, toilet, entertainment, shower, lap pool, bedroom, decks, grassed roofs and winter garden alter depending on which floor aligns with which.

Experience is dictated by usage or a typical day in the life in a multiple dimension house:
Waking up, the occupant arises to a view out over Shinjuku in Tokyo. His bedroom is already aligned with the shower room so he wanders in to bath. Projected on the glass divide is the weather which forecasts sun all day. Washing up he decides to take a swim and sets the building in motion so that the lap pool rises to his level. Walking onto the pool deck the occupant takes in the views out over the city, and looks at the lap pool that cantilevers out over the side of the building. After a few laps and a lay in the sun, he readies himself for the nights date. His date arrives via the public living space where he meets her for a few drinks first. When dinner is the ready the room moves up to align with the dining room and kitchen. While they eat dinner the public living and kitchen give way to allow for an uninterrupted panorama of the Tokyo cityscape. With dinner finished they decided to have drinks on the roof garden. Stepping onto the exterior deck the house shifts so that the garden comes down to their level. Sitting under the moon the two decide to head to the entertainment room which is summoned up to align with the roof garden. After a few steamy hours inside the house shifts down so as to allow the occupants date to exit via the core, back down to street level. The bedroom then appears and the occupant steps inside, retiring for the night, ready for the next day and a new combination of events in his ever shifting house of multiple functions.
