| Introduction |
The main objective of The Ontario Parrot Owners Association is to maintain an online community where parrot lovers from the Ontario, Canada area may share knowledge, experience and interesting information. We wish to create more awareness of parrots as pets, also providing useful and important information on their proper and responsable care. Too many of them are brought into inexperienced homes for their beauty or exotic appearance, only to be rejected later if undesirable behaviour develops. These little creatures are highly intelligent, full of personality and make loving companions. They also deserve to have owners who are educated on their care in order to promote healthy and happy lives.
Since we have members from all over Ontario, we don't have meetings as local clubs do. However, we do offer an online message forum where we can keep in touch, get advice from other owners and post information.
We are hoping that with the growth of membership, we can collectively build a website to be proud of. We intend to build a site full of useful content, including pictures of your feathered friends and also informative articles, and advice.
Whether you own budgies, macaws, or something in between, we have something in common, they are all parrots! The website will at all times remain "family friendly", we must remember that people of all ages might be looking in.
Things will be updated often, so come back soon and check in!

If you are a member of OPOA and you would like to see your bird featured on this page, here's what you need to do. We require a small series of pictures (up to 12) for the Bird Of The Month, the best quality possible. It's that simple. We like to get as much variety as possible and give everyone a chance, so send in those pics!

The Classified page has been having continued success, plenty of stories of happy new owners thanks to our classifieds. We are happy to see people taking advantage of this. Because of time restrictions stemming from life's demands, there was a short time period where ads were slower than usual getting posted. I apologize for this and am happy to report the problem has been rectified.
Do you have birds or bird related items to sell? Breeders, do you have a clutch of chicks ready to go to new homes? Looking for accessories for your birds?
Why not place an ad?
We will also post a picture of the item if provided. The picture must be an attachment to the email, please do not embed the picture within the body of the email. Send us an email, and your ad will be online usually within 12 hours!
NOTE: All ads for birds for sale must be in Canada due to importation issues, and it is helpful to shoppers if you post a general area where you are located. This saves much time for people inquiring. Also, ads will no longer be posted on weekends (I need my time off too). Ads recieved after noon of Fridays will not appear until Monday morning. (June 15, 2008) |
