bullet  General Notes:

William John emmigrated with his young family to Canada in 1909. They sailed from Liverpool on the 1st of April, 1909, arriving in Portland, Maine on the 12th of April. They sailed on the SS Dominion. A copy of the ships manifest can be found in the pictures section of this program. The family first settled in Port Arthur, Ontario. They moved to Thorold, Ontario.

William John signed up for the Overseas Expeditionary forces on the 20th of March, 1916. His application can be found online at: http:www.collectionscanada.ca. William John went back to England, but never fought in France.
