Welcome
Welcome to the online home of the British-Ukrainian musician Omelan Demianczuk.
Here you will find information, photos, audio files and videos (from the archives) of a few of the bands Dem has played in over the years. Apologies for the less-than-perfect sound and picture quality on some of the older material.
If you would like to contact Dem via email please click here.
The Ukes
Dem has most recently been playing with The Ukes, and has performed live with them several times, including a couple of gigs in Toronto
(where they headlined the Fest-Ukraine 2004), and also at the Ukrainian Independence Day celebrations at Rosey, France.
Reviews and photos of these gigs can be found at the official website of The Ukes at
www.theukes.com
The line-up of The Ukes is fluid, depending on circumstances, availability, and the type of gig.
However, live performances generally consist of Ludwig plus none or more out of Andy Stebs, Andy Maz and Dem.
'Rokovyny', the 2004 CD album by The Ukes, is available from
www.theukes.com.
The CD has been post-produced by Canadian producer and sound engineer Roman Klun.
Roman has previously won awards for his engineering work with top Canadian singer
Sarah McLachlan, and has won a Genie Award for his song 'River Blue'. He
was also nominated for Best Ethnic Album for 'Passion Of The Angel'. Roman's website can be found at
www.romanklun.com
(Incidentally, Roman guested on drums for The Ukes in Toronto.)
The Ukes were featured in the October 2004 issue of Obraz Magazine - The Ukrainian Image
(www.obraz.co.uk), and also had a song
included on the multimedia CD which came with the December 2004 issue. The Ukes have also been featured
on radio shows in Canada, the USA, the UK (on the BBC) and on BBC Ukraine,
as well as interviews in magazines in Canada and the UK.
My Dog Has No Nose
Dem is currently working on remastering and remixing the songs from the Whirled Music album and the Christmas Present EP,
as well as one or two songs that were recorded at the same sessions but which didn't make it onto either CD. There should be around
20 completed songs in total, hopefully including a couple of alternative versions. Further updates will be posted here.
The My Dog Has No Nose website (www.mdhnn.com) has been updated
with more information and photos from the band's early days, as well as more recent photos from the band's heyday in the 90s.
The site also contains news, images, a band history, album information, song clips, and contact information for My Dog Has No Nose,
who were one of the top world-music groups of the 1990's.
More video clips of My Dog Has No Nose performing live are now available on the My Dog Has No Nose web site,
in addition to the videos available here.
There are currently no plans at this time for MDHNN to re-form, record or tour.
Thanks
A big thank you to Andy at www.eilands.com for providing additional server space.
