HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone, I hope this year goes better than the last, but I won't hold my breath, some hard days are coming, I pray God watches over all of you. I Uploaded Deluxe Pacman v1.71, some small bug fixes and other minor changes, in the GAMES section as usual. I've also been playing around with creating a new game, I was going to name it "Deluxe Pacman 2" but I really want to get away from using "Pacman", I fear being sued. Plus I would like to redo it so it is more original, something I can call my own, with a new name. I'll keep the new name a secret for now, I think it's original and don't really want to say much more until I am sure what direction I want to go.

I updated my Paypal donation button on my games page, I had the wrong email address in there, oops. LOL, ah well. ;)

I just uploaded Deluxe Pacman v1.70d to the Games section. Some small changes to the game and keyboard keys are all listed in the manual.txt now.
I've been working on cleaning up my Deluxe Pacman source code so it can be compiled on Linux (and possibly other operating system). This should also make it easier to update the game if I decide to do a more extensive update of the game and start work on it again, which I am considering.
If you still have trouble clicking on FORUMS and having it not take you directly to them, you may have to clear your browser cache, I had to. Also, if you get a warning in Firefox about the website redirecting you to a new site, you can disable that warning in TOOLS>OPTIONS->ADVANCED->GENERAL, just turn off "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page". This is not a security problem, many websites do this and having to click "Allow" each time is a pain. Firefox 3 does this anyhow if you leave it on. I turned it off.

I just uploaded Deluxe Pacman v1.70c, the default installation directory when you install the game will now be your user profile (%userprofile%). If you own Vista, I strongly advise you install into the default location, this should help to alieviate any further problems with high scores, level editing etc. I don't know how Windows 7 is on these issues, if you're in doubt, install in the default location. Otherwise, the the game is the same.
I removed the additional level packs that were created by Micheal due to changes in my ISP agreement. I have to pay if I go over my limit now so I want to be safe in this regard.
I also update the location of my FORUMS, I didn't realize they had moved, you should now be able to jump to them properly when you click to the menu. I guess I really should check those forums more often. ;)

I just uploaded Deluxe Pacman v1.70b, added on a command line switch to set the difficulty level at runtime as requested. ;)

I just uploaded Deluxe Pacman v1.70a, this is a small update that makes Deluxe Pacman save the high score files back to it's own directory (like v1.69) but has a command line option to save to a vista ("-vista") friendly directory if needed. Both versions of the game 1.70, and 1.70a are available for download so you can stick with 1.70 if you have vista and don't wish to use a command line option. I put this up at the request of someone who liked to play this off a thumb drive and wanted their high scores saved on the drive, good idea, here you go, enjoy! :)

I just uploaded Deluxe Pacman v1.70, this is a small update with a few big changes to try and make it run better with Windows Vista.

I have a small update in my programming section to my City3D program. I made some small changes to it. I have been trying to get back into my programming lately.
My wife and I just celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary on February 8th! It's hard to believe it's been 23 years (26 since I first met her!!), we've had alot of hard times, but I still love her, she's my best friend.

Not too much happening. I've made an effort to get back into programming again, maybe start up a new project but my enthusiasm isn't what it used to be.
I notice that 3DRealms.com just put up a teaser trailer for their game Duke Nukem Forever. This is pretty important as they stated years ago (this game has been in teh works for over 10 years now) that they wouldn't post anymore media about the game unless it was within 6 months of being released. either it is close to being released and they're going to start their hype machine rolling, or they finally gave in to the fans and posted something for xmas, only time will tell. This is a game title I have long looked forward to and have faith that it will be one of the best sellers of all time when it does finally hit the shelves. Certainly a LOT of work has been put into this title, more so than most other games you see out there.

I updated my images section, my sister complained about her picture I had there so I put up a better more recent one.

Long time no update. I just updated all the menus in order to remove the counter code that showed how many visitors to each page there were. The reason for this was that a friend of mine was hosting the counter and his computer was fried (almost literally). I'm just glad his family is okay. As a bonus, the pages should all load faster now.
It must be that time of the year because my hard drive also suddenly died on me as well. I lost quite a bit, including the source code to the newest Deluxe Pacman so any updates to it will be a long time coming (if ever). Now that Microsoft has released it's Vista version of Windows, some people are having the odd problem with my game, sorry folks, I can't afford to buy Vista so I can't update the game to work with it. It DOES work with it, but if you have any problems related to it and Vista, there's nothing I can do other than offering some untested suggestions. This is the downside of offering software for free, I don't make any money so I can't update my own operating system etc.
December 20, 2006 - Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
Have you heard the controversy over wether to say "Merry Christmas" or be more politically correct and say "Happy Holidays" so as not to offend non-christians? My first thoughts are, what do you think would happen to a Christian in a muslem country if he demanded they change one of their "holy days" to something politcially correct? Do you think he would survive? Is there a reason why christians aren't allowed to have a holiday that is christian without some other group being offended by it? Should we rename Ramadan?
Those were my initial thoughts, but to be 100% honest, I don't care what they label December 25th as it has absolutely nothing to do with the birth of Jesus Christ anyhow, it was adopted by the catholic church from ancient pagan sun worshipers traditions, something that is clearly forbidden in the bible. It isn't christian and has nothing to do with christ, nor is it a holy day ("holiday" is the shortform of "holy day"), so I don't care, nor do I celebrate it.
Christ WAS conceived on or about December 25th (he was concieved 6 months after John the baptist, his cousin), and born nine months later, around September 24, 4BC (BC? Yes, our calendar is wrong) the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles (a REAL holy day listed in the bible), this gives more meaning to that holy day and is the real birthday of Jesus Christ that is ignored by the vast majority of people these days.
But this leads to another question, should we be celebrating birthdays at all? As a christian there is no mention in the bible about celebrating birthdays, in fact, nobody ever celebrated one (or at least thought it important enough to mention) in the bible, ever. The wisemen that visited Christ (and there is no mention of how many there were, wether it was 3, or maybe 6... who knows) gave christ gifts, not for his birthday (he was a couple years old by the time they found him, no longer in a manger), but they gave him gufts because that was the custom when visiting a king, which they thought he was.
There are alot more facts about this time of year you can discover, just look up the origins of christmas on google.com sometime and do some reading. I'm not trying to be a miserable Scrouge, I just don't like to celebrate something unless I honestly believe in it. To me, there is nothing christian about parents lieing to their children about a fat bearded ELF (what's christian about elves?) visting to give them gifts (don't you give gifts to the birthday person anyhow... what do people give Christ on December 25th?). Sorry, I can't support a lie, it just isn't christian.
To those who DO support it, I still hope you all enjoy yourselves and have a happy and safe xmas. (see, I'm not that bad, lol) ;)

Wow, it's almost the end of November already! Is it just me or is time flying by quicker these days? Must be age creeping up on me. Not up to much lately, playing more World of Warcraft still, but I may stop that soon and do more programming, it's an addictive game. I started a "BLOG", I'm not sure what the difference is between a blog and a homepage, but I created a blog and this is my homepage. Looks all the same to me. If you're curious, it's neil65.spaces.live.com, I update it regularly with lots of images and a few notes on what I may be up to. I mainly created it for those that know me that use that sort of thing alot.
