1981 The
origins of Cartotechnic lie in
traditional mapping and GIS. From these fundamentals, Cartotechnic
has evolved to provide consulting services to any level of government and
to private companies. These include: basic mapping and imagery acquisition;
setting up CAD environments, mapping and GIS systems; basic database design;
application development; web hosting, and data dissemination across an
enterprise. Cartotechnic is rooted in the
belief that the true value of data is realized at the enterprise level where
the power of GIS can be made truly effective. Implementing a data-sharing
environment involves marrying a variety of desktop and server systems,
applications, and operational procedures in unity, while avoiding the
negative influences of vested interests, and attempts to cling to the status
quo. Successful implementations are achieved by aligning expectations with
reality, and working with groups to obtain a consensus based on common sense,
common expectations and rewards. Cartotechnic assists in promoting
