Size - 40 to 60 mm.
On the wing - June to September.
Range - B.C. to Cape Breton.
Host plants - They feed on grasses such as Wild Oats and Purpletop.
Favourite habitat - Open fields with wild flowers are the order of the day for this butterfly.
Special notes - The males tend to be darker than this female. They also tend to be communal in nature where there is one there is more. As Adults the can be found nectaring on flowers and the larvae overwinter.
