Size - 50 to 80 mm.

On the wing - June to September.

Range - Coast to coast.

Host plants - Willow and Poplar.

Favourite habitat - Woodlands and forest edges.

Special notes - The White Admiral can be found sunning itself on the roadways in the park. It really doesn't visit flowers but can be seen on dung. This butterfly has a hybrid subspecies called the Red Spotted Purple which is missing the distinctive white bands.
