Spring Azure

Size - 15 to 25 mm.

On the wing - Early April to mid June.

Range - Spring Assures are far more wide spread than Summer Assures. They are found in almost every nook and cranny of the country.

Host plants - Larvae can be found feeding on Viburnum, Cherry trees and blueberry.

Favourite habitat - Open woodlands and margins.

Special notes - Azures are one of the butterflies who's larvae are also attended by ants (see Silvery Blue). Adults live only a couple of days after emerging from over wintering pupae.
