Size - 45 to 70 mm.

On the wing - July to mid September.

Range - Predominantly southern Ontario and Quebec. Also extending to Saskatchewan in the west and Cape Breton in the east.

Host plants -  Larval food plants are the Stinging Nettle.

Favourite habitat - Can be found in a wide variety of habitats but they prefer woodlands.

Special notes - They don't often visit flowers but prefer mudding, carrion and dung. They are slightly larger and have a longer tail on the hind wing than Commas.
