Mourning Cloak
![]()
The Mourning cloak is a beautiful butterfly and can be found from coast to coast. There are two broods per year....one in June/July and a second in August. The August brood flies into October and then over winters emerging in April to propagate the next cycle. Although they are never found in large numbers, like Monarchs, they are found consistently year to year.
The earliest sighting last year (that I am aware of) was on March 24th in Toronto, however, I didn't see my first until April 15th.
