Size - 35 to 50 mm.

On the wing - April until October.

Range - Throughout Canada.

Host plants - Stinging Nettle.

Favourite habitat - A variety of clearings.

Special notes - A very attractive butterfly. After emerging in April after hibernation the adults have several overlapping broods each year. Larvae live in communal nest on foodplants (stinging nettle) and adults feed on sap and dung.
