Size - 30 to 40 mm.

On the wing - June and July.

Range - Primarily southern Ontario and Quebec scattered in Manitoba and the Maritimes.

Host plants - Grasses.

Favourite habitat - Woodlands.

Special notes - Adults are attracted to sap and nectar on flowers. This butterfly's larvae overwinter (To understand how see overwintering larvae). Not a great flier but can be tricky to net.
