Size - 30 to 35 mm.

On the wing - August and September.

Range - Southern Manitoba, southern Ontario and Quebec as well as North Dakota to Maine in the US.

Host plants - The larva feed on a variety of grasses.

Favourite habitat - Along wooded edges and clearings.

Special notes - This is because they go into diapause during their second instar and complete their growth cycle the following year.
