Henry's Elfin
![]()
Size - 20 to 25 mm.
On the wing - May until early June.
Range - Scattered along the southern fringe from Manitoba to Nova Scotia.
Host plants - Wild cherry and plum.
Favourite habitat - Open deciduous woodland.
Special notes - The larvae of Henry's Elfin bore into the buds of flowers of wild plum and cherry. Recently it has been noted that they have adapted to Black Buckthorn as a foodplant. In turn this may account for an increase in population.
