Great Spangled Fritillary

Size - 60 to 90 mm.

On the wing - June to August.

Range - B.C. to Cape Breton.

Host plants - Violets.

Favourite habitat - Open areas.

Special notes - Adults avidly nectar on milkweed and are particularly fond of the Canadian Thistle.
