Eastern Pine Elfin

Size - 20 to 25 mm.

On the wing - Early May until early June.

Range - Alberta to Nova Scotia.

Host plants - Jack Pine.

Favourite habitat - Sandy areas that support their host.

Special notes - One of three species in Canada that feeds on evergreens. The others being the Juniper Hairstreak and the Western Pine Elfin.
