Religiously Speaking first started as an idea which Lorne Tyndale and Lesley Horton developed for a weekly, one-hour radio show on CJAM 91.5 FM focusing on religious issues. From the original programme proposal:

Both of us submitting this proposal are Religious Studies students here at Windsor, and we would like to present a non-demoninational show, focusing on various religions and religious aspects of life. Looking at a variety of world religions and their traditions, practices, beliefs, histories, and present-day realities we hope to offer a view of religion which is not normally found in media. The overall goal would be to each week present a show which tries to celebrate the diversity of religions which exist and to try and show how religion has an impact within life.

Throughout each show, there will be an emphasis to show that there is not any one specific "correct" approach to religion or spirituality, but rather religion and spirituality encompasses a wide variety of beliefs, traditions, and practices.

The programme proposal was accepted on CJAM, and Religiously Speaking debuted in August 1998. Since that time we have looked at a wide variety of topics, some of which you can read brief information about. Religiously Speaking went on to win the highly esteemed 1999 CJAM Jammy award for Favourite New Spoken Word Show! While Lesley is unforunately no longer a regular host of the show, Lorne continues the weekly programme in the comprehensive fashion listeners have known for over 6 years.

Religiously Speaking is hosted by Lorne Tyndale and airs each Friday from 4-5 PM Eastern Standard Time on CJAM 91.5 FM in Windsor, Ontario. CJAM can be heard on the web through MP3, feel free to Listen In!

Each week on the show we spend about 45 minutes to look at a topic of current interest from a religious perspective. Sometimes this is surrounding an issue, practice, recent decision, or news item of public importance. Sometimes this is a focus on a particular religious faith. Always we try to balance the approach, respective of the variety of religious viewpoints and faiths.

The last 15 minutes of the show consists of a brief rundown of the week's religious news events from around the world.
