Kingston Celebrity and Personality Involvement Enriches Company’s First Show

Kingston – To mark the their first production and the Canadian Premiere of William Missouri Downs’ Headset: A View from the Light Booth, the Company of Lost Souls has recruited the help of many local Kingston celebrities and well-known personalities to assist in the recording of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

“Throughout Headset there is a production of Hamlet, unseen by the audience, going on,” says Company of Lost Souls Artistic Director Kevin Fox.  “We thought it would be great if we could get some local celebrities involved in recording Hamlet for this project. So far [at the time of this release], many local personalities have agreed to record lines from Hamlet for us.”

Headset director Marc Givens, a local musician, has been putting the recording together for the production since it’s inception last fall.

So far, Peter Milliken (M.P. for Kingston and the Islands and Speaker of the House of Commons) and Nancy Slater (from K-Rock) have recorded their own versions of King Claudius and Queen Gertrude respectively.

Also, Shadow and Rosco (from K-Rock), Greg Burliuk (from the Kingston Whig Standard and local playwright), Chris White (from City Life Ontario) and others have expressed interest in voicing characters from the play.

“We’re thrilled with the amount of enthusiasm we have recevied from the community for our first show,” continues Kevin.  “It’s really gratifying to have so much support.”
