My first new car was the 1994 Firebird Formula
listed on the opening page of this site. In a hasty (and in hindsight
incorrect) decision it was sold in the fall of 1996. I regretted this loss
for many years to follow. My wife often teased me when we would visit the
new car shows or stop at dealers to see if there was a F-Body on the lot,
just get one she would say. Stop torturing yourself! When the demise of the 4th generation
F-Body was announced last year my mind was made up, I had to get one. I
originally was planning to get a 2002 Trans Am Collectors Edition, but
when I saw the colour in person I didn’t like it. So then I thought
another Formula, however the WS6 performance package was not available on
this model. I really liked the clean look of the Formula over the Tran Am.
What to do… A friend told me about the SLP Firehawk, http://www.slpeng.com/,
this was the answer. I could order a Formula with the Firehawk package and
get the additional performance and more. The SLP Message Forum proved to be a valuable
resource; any questions you have can and will be answered by other
enthusiasts and SLP Engineers. Another SLP forum member from the Toronto
area, "Superhawk" suggested if we put in our orders together we might get
a better deal. I called the dealer he suggested, Ab Cox Pontiac in Aurora,
indeed the deal was great! I ordered the Hawk on December 27, 2001. Here is the order:
The Hawk came home on Tuesday April 09, 2002. Modifications completed on September 05, 2002 at Agostino Racing Engines: Shock Tower Brace Sub-Frame Connectors My only concern was the lack of space in the garage. Unfortunately the 1969 Firebird Sport Coupe had to go. It was sold to another enthusiast from South Dakota. It was shipped in early August 2002. I was indeed sad to see it go, but I was happy it was going to someone who would appreciate the car as much as I had. Links: |
