When I turned 19 it was my last year of Rangers in Girl Guides. At the time there was no option for my to continue as a youth member in Guiding. All throughout Rangers we were closely related with the Rover Crew who met downstairs in the same church. We did service projects together and went camping together. It seemed that the logical next step after Rangers was to join the Scouting movement as a Rover. So I did! I joined the 9th Kitchener Rover Crew (affectionately called 9K) in September 1995. I was immediately made a squire. (Squires are members of the crew who haven't been invested as a full Rover yet.) As a squire you are requested to do any tasks that other members of the crew ask. I spent one camp babysitting the crew's pet stick, Foo Foo. She needed a lot of walking! In 1996 I was invested as a full member of the 9K Rover Crew.
![]() ![]() In 1999 it became apparent that our crew was closing down. We had lost many of our members to school, marriage, and old age. In September I joined the University of Waterloo Rover Crew. The UW Crew was founded in 1996 by two individuals who missed Scouting while they were away from school. When I joined the crew I was recoloured with the new crew's scarf. I was recoloured on the roof of the UW Engineering building in February 2000. It was freezing but very cool! ![]() While I was a member of this crew I was the Quarter-Master for half a year, the Vice-Mate (Vice-President) for half a year and the Mate (President) for 3 years. I earned my Silver Quester award, which was an award given by the Ontario Rovering Community for recruiting new members into Scouting. In 2004 I officially became too old to stay in Rovers as a youth member. The crew already had 2 advisors so I decided to stay on and help the crew as a Group/Section Committee member. My job was now to make sure that the crew was following the principals/program of the Rover Section. I also became the liaison to the Federation of Students at UW, our sponsors. Also, our crew has taken on the task of running the Rovers Only Moot in July every year. The Rovers Only Moot (ROM) was started in 2001. Our crew took over in 2004.
![]() ![]() While staying with the crew there are also other Rovering things that I have done. I earned my Woodbadge Part I for Rovers which says that someday I can be a Rover leader. I joined the Moot Moot Committee in 2003. This committee ran Moot Moot, a Rover Moot that was held on the Toronto Islands in September. I was on the committee until the Moot ended in 2007.

Over the years I have made many great friends in Scouting.
