Kubsie's Korner
On The Water

Ryan and I love the water. Ryan's been sailing in Toronto since he was a young boy and I've been in the water at my cottage since I was born. As a result we spend as much time near the water as possible!

We have a garage that's not full of cars, but full of boats. We own a sailboat, a canoe, three kayaks, and a windsurfer. This seems a little ridiculous since we're land locked...

The Canoe

The yellow canoe is ours. It's fifteen feet and we nicknamed her "Rubber Ducky". The top picture was taken on the island at Lake of Two Rivers in Algonquin Park, the picture on the right was taken in Massassauga Provincial Park and the one in the middle with Quin in the background was taken at Guelph Lake Conservation Area. The green canoe belongs to Ryan's uncle and the red canoe was sitting on the beach at Lake of Two Rivers.

The Kayaks

The longer grey kayak is a Wilderness Systems Sealutions XL II seventeen foot touring kayak. The smaller grey one is a Jackson4Fun six foot river kayak or play boat. The red one is an inflatable kayak (which we have recently sold). All the pictures were taken at my Grandmother's cottage in Waubaushene, Ontario.

The Sailboat

This is our sixteen foot Bombardier 4.8 sailboat. We bought her from my friend Wendy's family after they noticed that they weren't able to sail her as often as they liked. Her name is "Colo" which means Moose in Slavey, one of the many languages of the Northwest Territories, where Wendy lived for quite a few years. And we really like moose! The pictures were taken in Waubaushene, Ontario or at Guelph Lake Conservation Area. The center picture was taken at Doe Lake and they are the boats I learned to sail in, Albacores.

In the Water

Of course, we spend as much time in the water as we do on it. The pictures (from top to bottom) are me snorkeling in Jamaica, Quin swimming at Waubaushene, me on a white water rafting trip in the Ottawa River, Ryan and I in Y.S. Falls in Jamaica, Ryan, my father (Mike) and I boogie boarding in Punta Cana, my first try at scuba diving (which I'm not very good at), Ryan scuba diving, and Ryan and I in the pool in Punta Cana.

Extra Notes!

Just some notes on the pictures...
Punta Cana is where my sister got married, Jamaica is where Ryan and I spent our honeymoon.
Quin swims well, but usually prefers to run around in the shallows playing in the mud and the weeds. She canoes well but likes to catch the splashes from our paddles and often leans over the edge of the canoe! It makes for a tippy ride. Quin does not sail, there's not enough room in the boat.
