HER MOTTO FOR
SUCCESS
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of
intelligent people and the affection of
children;
To earn the appreciation
of honest critics and endure the betrayal of
false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to
find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit
better, whether by a healthy child, a garden
patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has
breathed easier because you have lived;
This is to have
succeeded.
~Ralph Waldo
Emerson~

SHE TRIED TO
HELP US UNDERSTAND......WHAT
IS DYING?
I am standing on the
seashore.
A ship at my side spreads
her white sails in the morning breeze and
starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of
beauty and I stand and watch her until at
last she fades on the horizon.
Then someone at my side
says "There, she has gone" -
Gone where?
Gone from my sight - that
is all.
She is just as large in
the mast, hull and spars as she was when she
left my side....
The diminished size and
total loss of sight is in me - and not in
her.
And just as the moment
when someone by my side says, "She is gone,"
Others take up the glad
shout - "There she comes."
That is what dying is - A
horizon and just the limit of our sight.
Attrib: Henry
Van Dyke (1852-1933)

THERESE WAS
NEVER STOPPED
from living life to the
fullest despite breast cancer twice, thyroid
cancer and then ovarian cancer. She
finished her last eight watercolors just
weeks before she died to bring the total to
1500 painting (the numbers
mattered to her).
She lived her life with
the wisdom of an old soul and the joy of a
child!

THERESE LOVED TO
SAY
"Too much of a good thing
is wonderful"
"Life should NOT be a
journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and
well-preserved body, but rather to
skid in sideways, chocolate in one
hand, wine in the other, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out
and screaming....Damn, What a Ride!"
She did just that and I
am so glad to call her "friend".
