IT'S ARRIVED! Joining my Mellotron Sample Site online, here's my Peavey SP sample site.
.....
We interrupt the introduction to this site to announce the availability of a complete set of three classic Mellotron sounds on CD and CD-ROM. Formats include Peavey SP (of course), .wav and CD audio. Unity DS-1 format will be following soon and hopefully Gigasampler after that. Scroll to the bottom of the page or click the underlined link for details. We now return you to our regularly scheduled introduction...
.....
I'm a musician with a small home studio. This
includes (of course) a sampler, the Peavey
SP. At the time I bought it, it was the most affordable 16 bit
sampler on the market. In fact, since I bought the SIMMs for it at the
height of the "epoxy shortage", the RAM cost more than the sampler did!
Boy, have times changed!
Using this and an Atari STe (4 Meg RAM, 20 MegHD)
running GenWave, (and more recently, a clone PC and Sound Forge) I've created a fine little library for myself. I hope
to share it with other SP users. I've recently purchased a 2nd SP, fully loaded, for $140 to use in my most recent band, The Skinny Ties, in conjunction with a Peavey MidiBass. This, and my purchase of Mark Oakley's excellent SP Sample CD has prompted me to launch this page. Hopefully, other SP owners will follow suit.
All audio samples are in .sp format. You'll need SPDisk to use these samples. Beware, modem users! Some of these are going to be -BIG-! I'm going to add samples on an irregular
basis, but when I do, I'll post here at the DPM and SP User's Group to let other SP users know. Check back once in a while.
I've been asked how to download the samples. In most cases, just click on the sample link and your browser should offer to save it to your hard drive. If not, Netscape users should hold down
the Shift key and click on the link to the sample. Internet Explorer users should right click
on the link to the sample and choose "Save target as...". Both of these actions should result in a dialog
box that asks you where you want to save the file.
NEWS! - June 4/05 - I recently discovered that my Mellotron samples have been remastered and turned into a virtual Mellotron for the PC. It's available as a free download here. I hadn't visited my original Mellotron sample page in quite a while. I was astonished to see it's surpassed 114,000 hits! Don't forget to add the 25,000 hits that it had received before it temporarily disappeared when it was accidentally replaced by a Spice Girls page due to an error at Fortune City. 8^0 Sound on Sound magazine has posted a very complimentary review of my samples. You'll find that here. My Mellotron samples have also been converted to SoundFont format. You'll find them here. There's another set of SoundFonts made from my Mellotron samples here.
Below is a link to the Home Page for my band. Check it out!
