We Use
Knowing the difference between human and dog skin
composition can make the difference from a dull lifeless coat to
shiny hair with healthy skin.
We have attended seminars hosted by veterinarians discussing ear and skin conditions and have learned how shampoos, conditioners and a healthy lifestyle can promote healthy skin and hair.
A dog's skin structure is different from a humans. Their epidermis is much thinner and prone to more damage. Also the PH of the skin is around the 7.0 range. Human PH ranges from 4.6- 5.5 which basically means on average is 200 times more acidic than a dogs - this is why we don't use human shampoos on our pets.
Hair and sweat glands are also different. One type of sweat gland produces a liquid through the hair shaft and produces that famous doggie smell when exposed to bacteria. Another is in the pads of the foot where they sweat from. A dog needs to pant to regulate their temperature.
At Warm Hearts & Cold Noses we like to see ourselves as aestheticians for dogs and that is why we use a wide range of products that exfoliate, clean, and moisturize. All products are for dogs and cats and are designed to be used for many skin conditions - dry, oily, combination, allergic, etc. Our shampoos range from tearless to mango tea - apple oatmeal to fresh grapefruit. Our flea shampoos are made from natural herbal products.
Always remember some conditions may have an underlying medical problem and may require a vet's care. Some may be due to dietary conditions. We can work with your vet to to provide the right method of treating your pet's coat and skin
