JCi Guitars Difference!
Ian from the band "Midnight
Dawns"
plays a JCi Custom Guitar, so
A Custom Made Guitar
That Will Set You Apart From All The Rest!
1) Quality - I use only the
finest hardwoods, which I carefully inspect for
any
defects. Such as : twisting, bowing, or end checks.
Only the top notch pieces are used for your
guitar! Attention to detail, and quality is the #1 priority!
Where as speed and numbers are the top priority for assembly
line guitars.
2) Low Price - Custom
handmade guitars are very pricey. JCi Customized
Guitars start at $1300 with a hardshell case.
The reason I charge an affordable rate is because I'm not in it to rob
the
customer. I want to build the best
guitars possible, at a reasonable
price. I meticulously take the time to
over-see every little detail in the
building process. Everything from cutting,
routing, and filing the wood, to the fretwork
and electronics.
In other words, I LOVE creating a guitar from scratch!
3) Your Choice - Neck Thickness
- Headstock Style
- Fret Size
- Neck Wood and Body Wood
- Solid Body, Hollow Body, or Neck Through Construction
- Body shape
- Hardware
- 24 1/2" or 25 1/2" scale length neck, etc....
4) Nut Compensation - This dramatically improves intonation,
making a JCi guitar play in tune along the entire fretboard!
You will
hear the difference right away when you compare to a Gibson, Fender, or
any other guitar!
5) Totally Handmade -
This means that all cutting, filing, drilling and sanding is done by
hand, with the assistance of power tools of
course! All of the big companies use CNC machinery to do all of
the cutting and shaping, even PRS guitars.
There is no LOVE or PASSION put into the making of
these assembly line guitars!
6) Custom Wiring -
You get single coil and humbucker sounds, at no extra charge!
Push/Pull tone and volume pots are used for
easy switching (Try and find that on a Gibson or Fender!)
Volume control is for single coil sounds,
and
Tone for both humbuckers in series. The tone pot bi-passes the
toggle switch.
Pull both pots together to
get a really clean sound. Or, 3 single coils with
series/parallel switching.
You can combine the bridge
& middle single coils in series, and all 3 singles
in series. This combines the output of the pickups together,
creating a creamy and fat sound.
7) Pickup Placement -
Pickups are located in the "sweet spot" for the best possible
tone. The scale length (24 1/2" or 25 1/2")
is the main
factor in the bridge pickup placement. The neck pickup is always
placed beyond the 24th fret
harmonic. The 24th fret harmonic has a dead spot,
which makes a neck pickup sound very mushy.
The end result : not
too mushy at the neck position, and not too tinny and
harsh at the bridge
position.
Humbuckers are Golden Age Alnico 5 magnets, 12K ohms. Single
coils are Golden Age Alnico 5,
6K ohms for the neck and middle, and 6.6K ohms for the bridge.
I've experimented with many pickups
on my prototypes, (Lace Sensors, Dimarzio, Duncans, EMG's) and have
found that
these pickups deliver
the
vintage, classic sound that I've sought after.
The single
coils will be angled,
opposite of a Strat bridge pickup. (10 degree angle ala Jimi Hendrix)
The bass strings will have more articulation, by mimicing the scale
length of the low E string and high E string.
We all know how a Strat bridge pickup sounds harsh on the treble
strings, and how a Tele bridge pickup is
mushy on the
bass strings, in relation to the trebles!
8) Direct Mounted Pickups - A block of wood is placed
underneath each pickup, to transfer vibrations from the body to the
pickup.
9) Tung Oil Finish - The oil
finish allows the guitar to resonate much better. Your guitar
will sound more alive than a lacquer finished
guitar. Thick lacquer finishes make the tone sound dull, lacking
clarity and warmth! Wood cannot vibrate if it is
covered in a plastic finish! The tung oil penetrates into
the wood fibres, and there is no film or coating to stifle
the true sound of the wood. It feels silky smooth, because I sand
the wood to 2000 grit sandpaper. I want the
wood to be the primary feature on my guitars! If you are looking
for a painted or lacquered piece of eye-candy,
a JCi Guitar is not for you.
10) Steel Reinforced Neck - 2
quarter inch steel bars running parallel to the truss rod. It's
takes a little more time for me, but it makes the
neck very strong and resisitant to warping & twisting.
11) Freebies - Each guitar
comes with an extra set of strings and 3 guitar picks.
12) Totally Unique -
While all of your pals are playing their 50 year-old designed Strats
and Les
Pauls,
you will be making them
envious with your unique JCi guitar! You
will
stand out among the everyday
guitar player, because your guitar
will look, feel, (and most important) sound better than the
candy-coated, sterile guitars that are on the market.
I've put a lot of
research and practice into making the best guitars
possible.
I
stick to my principles on how a guitar should be made! I limit some
choices, such as No tremolo bridges (tone robber).
From the bridge, to the pickups; everything is mounted solid on a JCi
Guitar! I cannot be swayed into building something I don't
believe in. I will not be tempted by the all-mighty dollar.
So if you have what it
takes, I will consider you as a potential customer. I will
not make a
guitar if it is not practical, or against my building philosophy.
Because in the
end, it's my logo on the headstock, and I have to stand by my work.
