Kim
McWilliams R.Y.T. 500
Kim McWilliams, the owner
of The Humanistic Yoga Centre, studied yoga at the Centre in it's beginning
in 1987. She received her certification through Namaste International with
the Centres founders Irene and Dr. Bill Beer. Kim has taught weekly fitness
and aquacize classes for several years and served as Co-ordinator of the
Peterborough Participaction committee, prior to becoming the owner of the
Centre.
Kim invites you to be a part
of The Humanistic Yoga Centre family. Her hope is that the studio is more
than just a place to come and learn the art of yoga, but a place that
facilitates individual growth and overall quality of life. Kim looks
forward to the Centre's continued growth in the yoga community and welcomes
new students to the wonderful world of yoga.
Bridget
Cuff
Bridget
took her first yoga lesson at 17 in the Sivananda tradition. As she moved,
she continued to find classes in various schools of yoga. Following a car
accident in 1988, her physician suggested yoga as therapy and she began taking
regular classes in Peterborough.
After a number of years she became interested in deepening her practice and
enrolled in the Namaste International 500 hour teacher training program
registered with Yoga Alliance. Although initially using yoga for physical
stability and flexibility, Bridget is now exploring the
ethical/spiritual/meditative side as a tool for day to day living.
Since completing her certification in 2004, Bridget
has continued to learn, qualifying under Judith Lasater
in October of 2006 as a Relax and Renew trainer. In April 2010 she
travelled to Chicago
to study with well known Yin Yoga teachers Paul and Suzee
Grilley and completed their intensive 25 hour Yin
Yoga Practice and Theory Training.
She has been teaching since 2003 and hopes to help
students to explore & discover their own path of yoga.
Fern Hearne
Fern began her study of healing
techniques in her twenties, and still enjoys learning every day. Her career
over the years included teaching fitness and meditation classes to all
ages, and facilitating spiritual and fitness retreats for women to the Caribbean. Volunteer positions working with
Parkinson’s patients and people recovering from strokes led to a position
as "Special Needs Coordinator" of a program for seniors with
physical and cognitive impairment. Fern has taken workshops in Reflexology,
Polarity and Shiatsu. Therapeutic Touch and Chakra Balancing before
becoming a Karuna Reiki Master. After several
losses in her own life she backpacked alone throughout South East Asia and
spent time studying in a Buddhist
Temple. Fern likes to
travel as a speaker, and conduct workshops on natural healing and fitness
education. She and her husband live six months in Peterborough
and six months in Sun City,
Arizona and have twelve
grandchildren.
Jack Connelly
Jack has been involved in the study
and practice of meditation for over 25 yrs. This includes several years in Asia studying with both Buddhist and Hindu [ Advaita
Vedanta] Masters. Jack draws on a wide range of experiences in his
meditation. His classes incorporate the essence of these ancient traditions
in a non religious easy accessible form. The classes involve learning
simple techniques that help one to experience the inherent calm and clarity
that exists within each one of us. Throughout the classes students will
learn how to incorporate this awareness into everyday living. .Plenty of
opportunity is given for questions and discussion. Jack's classes are
suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators. Jack has an
acupuncture practice The Acupuncture Clinic at 315 King Street and has 16 years of
clinical experience.
Pam Guzzi R.Y.T. 200
Pam has practiced yoga for many years. As a result of
the benefits she experienced from her practice, she chose to study yoga
more intensively in 2006 through a yoga teacher training course. In March
2007, Pam completed her 200 hour ‘Hatha Yoga’ training at the Balance Yoga
Studio in Tottenham. With her new awareness of yoga, she hopes to share the
benefits of yoga with others through her classes. Pam is registered with
Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200). In 2007, Pam completed
her ‘White Belt’ in Nia and became licensed to teach Nia classes. In 2009,
Pam completed a certificate Ashtanga YTT training for Primary Series
Teaching Techniques with teacher David Swenson in Vancouver. Pam completed a 40 hour Yin
Yoga Teacher Training Intensive under the direction of Tracey Soghrati in
April 2010. Pam’s enthusiasm and energy is evident in her teaching and she
enjoys sharing the joy of both yoga and Nia through her classes.
Suzanne Chapman R.Y.T. 500
Suzanne was first introduced to Yoga in 1991by Irene
Beer at the Humanistic Yoga Centre during a 6 week summer ""try
it"" session and was immediately hooked. After several years of
attending classes as a student, she decided to take her practice further by
enrolling in Irene’s Teacher Training program through Namaste International
and received her R.Y.T. 500 Certification. She has been teaching Yoga for
six years in Lakefield and is thrilled to be back at the studio where it
all began.
Janel Jarvis
Janel has been teaching music dance and fitness classes
for over a decade. While Belly Dancing has been at the focal point of her
dance career she has recently explored related styles such as Traditional
Hawaiian Dance and Hula Hoop Dancing.
Christina Sills R.Y.T. 500
Christina has been a
yoga student of Irene Beers since 1989. She took her teacher training
through Esther Myers in Toronto

Erin Radoja R.Y.T. 500
Erin
is
a certified Yoga instructor and Therapeutic Touch 'TM' Practitioner. She
has been practicing and studying yoga for sixteen years. She was first
drawn to yoga when she discovered that her joint pain disappeared while
practicing it. She then went on to discover all of yoga’s other benefits
including body toning and health as well as emotional and spiritual well
being. Over the years Erin experimented
with different types of Hatha Yoga but it wasn’t until she discovered the
Scaravelli inspired style here, at the Humanistic Yoga Centre that she knew
she found the right style for her. Erin
finds this style of yoga to be wonderfully nurturing and adaptive for all
body types.
Erin is very
excited about sharing this wonderful style of yoga with others so that they
too can come to appreciate the amazing results it offers. Erin
is also available for Therapeutic Touch 'TM' treatments at the Humanistic
Yoga Centre.

and Irene Beer
Centre
Founders
Irene Beer was trained
as an educator at Leeds University Institute of Education UK. She taught
Iyengar style Yoga for 10 years & also studied at the Sivananda ashram
in Rishikesh India
in 1986. Following further studies with Esther Myers in Toronto she was invited by Vanda
Scaravelli to study with her. She presented internationally at four Unity
in Yoga conferences & teaches regularly in the USA, Canada
and Mexico.
Bill Beer was a family
physician for twelve years before becoming more holistically oriented.
Since 1986 he has focused on lifestyle counselling with emphasis on
nutrition, acupuncture, body mechanics & breath work. He practiced yoga
and T'ai Chi and has trained yoga teachers internationally.
The Beers are enjoying
retirement in Victoria
and traveling abroad.
Karen Page R.Y.T. 500
Karen is a
Certified Yoga Teacher, Relaxation Therapist and Life Skills Coach with 30
years of experience as an educator and counsellor in diverse settings. She
currently teaches yoga to a wide range of clients, including Yoga Teachers
in Training, Cardiac-Rehab patients and those in 'difficult' bodies. Karen
completed "Yoga Of The Heart - Cardiac Teacher Training" in July,
2001 and is certified as a Yoga Teacher through Esther Myers Yoga Studio
(2000) in Toronto

International (2001). A student of yoga for over thirty years, and a
student of Irene Beer for more than twenty years, Karen began teaching Yoga
at the Humanistic Healing Centre in 1997, in addition to the workshops on
relaxation and stress management she has conducted there since 1994. She
enjoys working with individuals and groups, providing experienced guidance
on topics such as assertiveness, job stress, effective communication and
problem-solving, with a focus on yoga, relaxation and stress management.
Karen lives in Peterborough
with her partner of 27 years, Don Skuce and their two cats.
