Countdown for Lent
Ash Wednesday is coming!
Lent begins on February 22. We are reminded that Lent is a time of repentance, change of heart, and prayer. We are also invited to bring the palm branches taken home last year to the church, so that they can be burned and used in the Ash Wednesday liturgy.
Newman House St. John Fisher Dinner – March 17 An annual fundraising dinner for Newman House and Catholic Christian Outreach is held to support the work of Catholic evangelization on the Queen’s campus. This year the St. John Fisher Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 17, at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Kingston. The Fisher Visitor for 2012 is Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay, who will deliver an address on the topic: “The Church in India Rising”. New Parish Bulletin Liturgical Publications is the new printer of our weekly bulletin. Advertisements on the back page will allow the bulletin to be produced at no cost to the parish. It is expected that advertisements will begin in March.
2011 Income Tax Receipts are available for pick-up at the main entrance to the church.
Catholic Missions Collection A special Diocesan collection for Catholic Missions in Canada (Scarboro Missions) will be taken up this weekend, 4-5 February 2012. This collection will be forwarded to the Archdiocese by March 5, 2012. Thank you for your generosity.
St. Patrick’s Concert ~ Early Notice ~ Start practicing those Irish tunes and dust off your dancing shoes! Our St. Pat’s Concert will be held on Sunday, March 18th at 7:00 pm at Holy Family School. Look for more details in the coming weeks.
Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School Grade 8 Information Night for parents & students will be held Thursday, Feb 16th, 7 pm – 9 pm in the Cafetorium. Information on the International Baccalaureate Program will be given in Room 104, 6 pm – 6:45 pm.
Kingston Frontenacs ~ First Annual Faith & Family Day ~ Monday, Feb 20th at 2pm
Local church organizations are invited to join the Kingston Frontenacs when they host the Ottawa 67’s, for a great afternoon of family, friends, faith and HOCKEY! After the game there will be an inspirational message from Frontenacs forward David Mazurek, a concert by local Kingston band SPORA, and a family skate on the K-Rock Centre ice. For a special $10 Group Ticket rate, tickets need to be ordered no later than Monday, Feb 13th. Call the Parish office at 613-542-8587 if you would like to join a group for Holy Family. Early reservations get the best seats!
Masses for our loved ones We are scheduling Masses for the remainder of 2012 and welcome requests for Masses for our departed loved ones, for return to good health, and for special occasions. Mass requests may be placed in the collection or arranged by calling the parish office. The offering for an announced Mass is ten dollars.
