In the urban environments the Iron Doves are often called into, a need for a fast moving interceptor was required to provide air superiority over a limited engagement theatre. To answer this need, the A-2 Piper Interceptor was developed and incorporated into the squardron. A VTOL craft, the Piper can take off vertically using it's ventrally mounted mag turbine to gain altitude. Once airbourne, the twin nitrogen scramjets provide thrust to give the craft a top speed in excess of mach 2 with a ceiling of 40k feet.

Like the rest of the Doves, the Piper features variable weapons mounts that allows for rapid changes in payload packages. Shown is the standard 4 magpod missle rack, capable of locking any mechanical device in stasis up to 20 feet from detonation point. Also shown is the Eavesdropper AWAC package, capable of intercepting all EM or microwave transmissions up to a 30 km range.

Both wings also boast standard single hardpoints, in this case shown with a neuroordance cluster pod, capable of temporarily incapacitating any enemy troop within a 40 meter radius of impact.
