Genealogy
OUR Fathers in a wondrous age,
Ere yet the Earth
was small,
Ensured to us an heritage,
And doubted not at all
That
we, the children of their heart,
Which then did beat so high,
In later
time should play like part
For our posterity.
--Rudyard Kipling, The Heritage
This page will be updated as
my research continues. I hope to eventually include scanned photographs and
newspaper articles. Ever the glutton for punishment, I'm researching a
half-dozen or more families, some of which appear here. To find out more,
choose a family:
- Adams -- My father-in-law's family. With few
exceptions, the descendants of Thomas Adams and Elizabeth Kingdon have remained
in the Branford area -- in some cases on the same property as their immigrant
ancestors!
- Paterson -- My maternal grandmother's
family.
- Somerset -- My father-in-law's family.
Their relation to the Somerset family of Toronto Township is uncertain.
- Sumpter -- my father's family (In progress!)
- Warden -- My mother's family. An
illegitimate birth back in 1873, and another around 1852, temporarily brings my
Warden line to a halt -- in fact, had there been a marriage, the family name
would have been Edwards. Until I can solve the mystery, I've taken the line
back through my Edwards (or Edward) ancestors.
- Young -- my mother-in-law's family (In progress!)
In all cases, the names of the living have been omitted for privacy. If
you're related to any of the above, I'd love to
hear
from you.
